WORLD WAR III & THE SHATTERING
Resource panic and the demographic crisis trigger WW3. Nuclear and biochemical strikes destroy federal governments. Surviving remnants of the U.S. Armed Forces fracture into informal, regional martial-law militias struggling to hold clean water and power grids.
2045–2052
RISE OF THE RSOA & FIRST LIGHT
A charismatic young politician named Adrien Ember consolidates the fractured U.S. military militias under a single banner. In 2050, he formally declares the birth of the Reclaimed States of America (RSOA), builds the capital city of First Light over the ruins of Washington D.C., and declares all wasteland outsiders (“Roaches”) enemies of civilization.
2053–2065
THE RECLAMATION ACTS
Facing demographic extinction and potential mutiny among an overwhelmingly male military (at a 1:10 gender ratio), Ember passes the Reclamation Acts:
All fertile women are seized as state wards, establishing the isolated, secret Repopulation Program.
The SR (Stress Reliever) System is created for infertile wards alongside proprietary chemical combat-enhancements (“The Regimen”) for military officers.
2070s–2080s
THE AGELESS REGIME
The first generation of purely state-raised RSOA children reaches adulthood, erasing Old World family structures. Adrien Ember utilizes monopolized pre-war medical tech and surgeries to halt his physical aging, remaining perpetually in his early 40s.

THE ICELANDIC PACT & PROJECT TITANS
Facing constant attrition, the RSOA signs a trade agreement with Europe’s NEUF—trading preserved American technology for shipments of genetically engineered 7-to-8-year-old boys from Iceland’s labs (Project Titans). The Exaltant Souls (EXSOs) begin ambushing these overland transport convoys between bases to steal children for their cult.

PRESENT DAY
~80 years post-collapse. The RSOA is an entrenched totalitarian superpower, M.E.D.U.S.A. operates as a ruthless industrial PMC buffer, wasteland sub-factions fight for survival, and the first generations of imported Icelandic Titans are now fully grown elite soldiers.
